Great italian gem in the east village! service was excellent. Our waiter helped talked us through the wine list and let us sample a bottle before purchasing it. they let us linger and did not rush us through the courses at all. my date and i shared the a meat and cheese plate and the fried calamari for our appetizers. the cheese and meat plate was pretty standard and the calamari may be some of the better that i've had. i had the 4 cheese gnocchi for my entree and it was fabulousss. My date had the slow cooked lamb shank over potatoes which was pretty good as well. good sized portions, too! my only complaint was that the bread served at the table was pretty cruddy...a little stale and just blah.
As giano was very underpopulated when we were there (5:30 on a sunday evening), we received very attentive service, including interesting discussions with the host. the food was excellent. i hope that the expected patrons did arrive later that evening and that this restaurant has the long life it deserves.
Delicious food. wonderful service. great wine. will definitely return to this restaurant.
I thought the food was amazing. I have been around and this is right up there with the best.
One of the best experiences we have had at a restaurant in a long time. highly recommend this place! the food was delicious.... And the only thing better than the food was the service!! i would give this an 11 out of 10!
